Weekly Blog Post 2

The video "Web 2.0...The Web is Us/ing Us" was a very interesting video. It did a very good job of drawing you in and keeping you interested throughout the whole thing. The thing that interested me the most, was the purpose behind the video and the message it protrayed. It brought so many intriguing thoughts to my mind, and to others' minds as well. I really enjoyed seeing all the various ways to write incorporated into one video. I never realized how many ways you could write and how much writing has evolved over the years. The part of the video that intrigued me the most, though, was the question, "Who will organize all this data?" When I saw that question, my mind started racing? Who does organize this? Who controls all this information that comes into the internet? Then, a later sequence of the video informed us that WE control it. We organize everythin that goes into the internet. This information blew my mind. It was hard for me to believe that there isn't any one person who controls this...it's just us.

The strategies used to convey this message were very interesting and worked very well to capture the attention of the various audiences at hand. The video starts off with an invisible hand writing with pencil on paper, then turns into a computer screen where someone is typing a message, and then goes into series of going from websites to blogs to many other random things you can find on the internet. The way the video goes to and from the various pages was a good strategy to keep the audience interested in what is going on in the video. The way the author of the video incorporated the various pieces of text into the the video was another interesting and creative way to keep the viewers attention and make them want to watch the whole video.

Weekly Blog Post 1

"There was never a good biography of a good novelist. There couldn't be. He is too many people if he's any good."--F. Scott Fitzgerald

This quote really jumped out at me as I was searching for one for this post. I don't read many biographies, but I have made attempts, on occasion. As I was reading this quote, it dawned on me that this is, or at least should be, a very true statement. If a novelist had any good, successful novels, it would be very hard to create a good biography of them, for they would be too many people.

Any novelist who write a novel that is appealing to their audience goes further than just writing a novel about various characters. The novelist becomes the characters he or she writes about. When they get this involved with their writing, the novel becomes more realistic to the audience reading it. It also makes the book much more pleasurable becuase you feel as if the story you are reading is actually taking place in some other world. When the author gets that involved in their writing, it demonstrates that they are writing for a purpose, which is to do everything possible to please their audience.

This quote does a good job of reaching to many audiences and gets its point across very clearly. Fitzgerald almost inspires novelists with this quote. It's his way of getting the novelist to really get in-depth with their writing and try to become their characters. The quote could almost be used as a goal to a novelist. They can strive to work for becoming the novelist that becomes their characters. They can work towards being classified under this quote. If I were a novelist, I would consider this quote a personal goal, and then, if I acheived this goal, I would feel a great honor knowing that I would be considered a successful novelist by one of the greatest there was.
